Occupational Disruptions Among Health Professional Faculty During COVID-19 Pandemic

The coronavirus disease was an unexpected pandemic. It led faculty in the health professional graduate programs to adjust and adapt new reality, which impacted them mentally, physically, emotionally, disrupted their occupational performance. purpose of this phenomenological study examine impact COVID-19 on engagement through semi-structured interviews conducted understand lived experiences at one university northeast region. were analyzed by creating codes themes process peer debriefing. Eight participated study, including from following departments: Nursing, Communication Science Disorders, Occupational Therapy, Nutrition Dietetics. results suggest that pandemic caused both positive negative impacts participants’ engagement. Five emerged: sleep routines, adaptation, stress anxiety, outdoor activities, parental work responsibilities. These findings can guide colleges universities prepare provide right support resources reduce anxiety promote future. also help identify roles therapists times disasters or a preparedness, plans for resources, improving faculty’s balance, rebuilding routines.
